Friends,

Do you have a favored bird, or bird song?

Is there a bird whose absence you notice in your current landscape?

What word or tune does your heart long to sing into the world this year?

How can gratitude flutter more distinctly throughout your days and nights?

Kindly share your thoughts and comments—I’d love to hear from you and connect here!

Pegge, Your photographs are breathtaking. I love all the birds. :) Favorites: Roseate spoonbill, frigate bird, all the owls, hawks, cranes, motmot and quetzal. There is a bird who sings here at night in Texas with a kind of whorling gurgle. I don't know what it is, but I love that sound. And owls hooting is so sacred.

I miss the motmots and the flock of parrots that landed in our tree every morning in Costa Rica.

TRUST

Gratitude fluttering. I love this. I am practicing slowing down in each hour as I work and taking more breaks. Gratitude is pretty present for me in things I love (animals, nature, clouds) but the challenge is feeling gratitude when things seem to not be going my way.

Thank you for asking and for the beautiful post! xo

Ahhh, thank you for your heartfelt sharing and reply! I don't know what a motmot is - I'll look that up! The singing birds at night are such a gift to hear--and when the owls hoot is so sacred. Sometimes there are up to four hooting to each other. In Costa Rica you must have had a treat of birds different from the U.S. - sometimes I think we can get to know a place through the winged creatures. I always notice feathers too, and they often appear at auspicious times.

May TRUST accompany you, as your gratitude flutters easily, and in those times when we stop, and breathe, and find it, hidden in the present. Your reply blessed me when I first read it--I apologize for the delay in responding. The fires in Los Angeles area and family there have occupied my attention the past several days. Peace be with you!

Motmots are just lovely. You don't see them as much as some other birds like parrakeets, so spotting one is always a treat. Yes, owl hoots ARE sacred. Thank you for saying that. I heard one on my run out on an open space trail on new year's day, in the middle of the day! And it felt very sacred, a little gift from the universe.

I love how you said we can know a place through its winged creatures. So much yes. I have so many feathers. They are powerful gifts aren't they?

This, "May TRUST accompany you, as your gratitude flutters easily, and in those times when we stop, and breathe, and find it, hidden in the present." such a beautiful blessing. Thank you thank you. And I am so glad you felt blessed by my reply. My heart is with you and your family. I lived in LA and still know many people in the area. So a part of my home is burning too. I hope your family is safe. Peace be with you also. xoxox ❤️

I'm smiling! And, as much as I love water -- yes, I'm enamored with birds. I'm smiling with a memory - for ten years I wrote a quarterly column for Spiritual Directors International in the publication "Listen", titled "Ask Owl"! Hoot, hoot!
